The read
Kappy runs the most disciplined auction in the league. He has never paid more than $70 for a player and his average top buy of $62 is among the lowest of the long-tenured managers. The results match the approach: a .566 regular-season record, playoffs in four of six years, and rosters that absorb injuries. His first board, in 2020, produced that draft's steal, Kyler Murray at $13 for 356.5 points. His teams are never in trouble in October.
They are also never favored in December. He is 2-6 in the playoffs with no finals appearances, the cost of never owning the best player in a given week. He is a Giants fan, one of three in the league, and none of the three has a title. The 2023 bronze is the ceiling of this approach until he pays up for a difference-maker.
